It's time to go shopping!
We headed out to the busy streets of the fresh market filled with vendors, shoppers and yes, even tour groups. It was an exciting place to be at 9 in the morning!
The experiences here in Taiwan has definitely made me miss being in Thailand. There's lots of similarities between the two countries but at the same time, Taipei feels more organized and less chaotic than the busyness of Bangkok whether it was shopping, driving or taking public transportation.
The last few days have been a great experience. People still come up to me speaking chinese, which is ironic. In Thailand, no one ever thinks that I'm Thai (*tear*) yet here everyone assumes I'm Chinese-speaking. How's that Tara? :)
A lot of bikers (on bicycles and motorcycles) would drive slowly by the stands to survey the goods.
(Questionable) fresh fish and seafood! The closest from an ocean haul yet I'm not quite sure laying on wet leaves in the shade still makes them fresh...
Doing my best to keep up with everyone's brisk pace.
Walking through the meats section of the market is making me seriously consider becoming a vegetarian (a thought that birthed after seeing and learning that Grandpa and Grandma Huang have been vegetarian for most of their life and they are so strong!)
I've never seen striped crabs like this before. Pretty!
Crabs climbing on top of each other and kicking their back legs rapidly in the air (their front pinchers and front legs were tied). At this point I'm starting to feel guilty for ever eating them :(
I spy a white and orange carrot! Lots of familiar and unfamiliar vegetables at the market.
Love my fruits <3
If you know me, you know this is my "Are you serious?" look. Feeling self-conscious in standing in the middle of the busy road of people and motorists (see the red traffic light in the background? Madness!) and be a tourist and take an obviously tourist picture.
Still love this picture though :)
晚安!
Nina, looks like you are having so much fun. I can totally see your face saying are you serious? You want me to stand in the middle of the street with my back faced to motorcyclist heading my way?...Haha. When I first saw the first picture, I was like..wow Nina you are brave and then scrolled down and saw the before pic..:-).
ReplyDeleteTotally know the feeling of everyone coming up to you and thinking you speak their language :-) Awesome, now you have more motivation so that the next time you go to visit, you can totally respond to them. :-).
From your pictures, it really does remind me of Thailand and people go up to the stalls with their scooters and motorcycles. It's like drive thru service at the market. I even did that myself too. :-)
Enjoy your time. Have fun. Can't wait to read more blogs and see more pictures.
:-)
